Why the Cold War is so important for us?

- After Hiroshima and Nagasaki the Word found out, that thanks to nuclear weapons Word could be destroy in “no time”

- They had to figure out wals that will not lead to armed conflict

o The political tention between USA and Soviet Union begun

· Truman Doctrine 1947

o Conflict of foreign Russian and American politics because of questions of financial support of Turkey and Greece – US effort to stop Russian expansion

· Berlin Blockade

o Berlin wall – 1961-1989 (Berlin airlift)

o Berlin was divided into two parts and Soviet Union built the Berliner Wall to control western Berlin, but Allies made „Berlin airlift“ to support western Berliners)

· The Korean war (1950-1953), The Vietnam war (1950-1953) – these wars increased the tention between USSR and USA and served as a demonstration of their power
